Both terrain and rows or bunches of grass shoots. It's something when I do it doesn't look quite right :/

If referring to the checker board effect, you need to ensure the original tile is consistent with the blades of grass. You can tile the texture in Gimp and get a preview of what it will look like in world. If you see a problematic area, you can select that area and work it separately ( flipping the blades of grass in question ).
Also, stay way from non seamless textures unless you are very experienced in manipulating them in Gimp. Even seamless ones can prove to be troublesome if they contain an item such as a leaf or clump of dirt; it will be repeated and produce the checker board effect.
