It is cool to have a world full of builders, merchants and creators but there will be a time when it will grind to a halt (says the almighty zebra). Residents that love to shop, explore, club and whatever are the life blood of the virtual world. Hence a concurrency of around 200 needs to be vastly improved upon.
Therefore I reckon the founders of InWorldz need to market their pants off like silly. I am betting my top-hat that if we reach a concurrency base level of a 1000, that would make a huge difference.
I know someone said that InWorldz is gonna market to 50+ females, I don't want that to be the sticky point here. The founders have stated that is not their intention, just that at this moment the stats point that out .....or something like that.
So anyone have ideas on how or what can be done by us the residents or the founders to improve this concurrency issue of ours. We don't have a problem of getting people into InWorldz around 80k+ accounts but getting them to be the lifeline of InWorldz seems to be an issue.
One of many ideas was to have themed sims for new residents, it looks like this could happen it's in the pipeline - me thinx.
What do you fink ?

The founders aren't looking to 50+ women. That was another one of those misinterpreted posts that Ele later clarified. They are looking to the crowd that has a disposable income; that could be a stay at home dad as well as a stay at home mom. Most pay a sizable amount for their internet connection, to do what? , send emails, gab on Skype, or allow other family members WoW time. IW is a great opportunity for that person that would normally chat to friends in Skype and reply to emails, to watch the internet connection expand in front of them.

Whoever is the target- the advert is the thing. I would love to see it happen and get on with it already.

Just a guess but if I were them I would be waiting until a few more bugs are smashed out of the mesh capable viewer and it can go to the download page.

What do you fink ? as much as a lot on IW hate to admit it,RP and more adult activities will bring more, plus getting the PhysX finally done for bikes, planes etc that work properly. all people see if they happen to view pic and vids of IW is the same stuff, fairies, elves, fantasy sims. these are all awesome but its not everyones cup of tea. lets face it, you come to VR worlds to play someone who you aren't or would like to be. im not saying make the ads for IW all dark and sex based, but a little variety would go along way for showing people all that is possible.

On the assumption that most have more than one account (who doesn't?) I'd say its closer to 30k actual users. Of which, say 10% will stay around more than a few hours/days. That should give you a few thousand users to play with, which is about what we're seeing if you include ones who log on infrequently. Big question is though - what is there to do? You sign up - explore for a few days and make your avatar look pretty, go hear some off key singer attempt to sing, listen to a DJ or two stream their Ipod while your avatar ballroom dances to Heavy Metal and your screen fills with gestures from the host begging for Izzies, have a go at building and realise its not as easy as it first seems.. then what?? Log onto almost any virtual world these days and its a vast expanse of nothingness. What happened to the sense of community there used to be around a couple of years back? When did that leave? Here's a few random ideas: - Group outings (no, not THAT sort of outing). In SL I used to belong to a group that would have a weekly "sim explore". We'd all meet up and go exploring as a group. That was fun as you'd never know where you'd end up, but more importantly it got people together doing something that was different, and allowed newer users to meet up and put virtual faces to names.
- Destination Guide. I've said it for years that the InWorldz website needs some sort of destination/what's going on page, ideally when you log on. The screens you see currently while logging on are a poor attempt at that idea. The explorer hud is a nice idea and goes some way to that, its just - dare I say it - poor in its implementation (mainly due to it having to be prim based).
- Meeting places. There's a lamentable lack of anywhere other than IDI for people to just hang out and chat and be silly. Rosie has asked many times for an Adult IDI to login at and be naked, with the current bug that end up with many people on V2 doing just that its way past time this happened.
- SOMETHING TO DO! InWorldz has missed the boat here. By slavishly making IW a clone of SL as far as scripts, physics, vehicles, clothes and now mesh go, they've given little reason for any innovation. You can just remake your SL items. No need to actually be creative and learn something new.
Many blamed the lack of Physics for people leaving - how many Physical items (not including vehicles) have you seen this last year? Bringing proper vehicles to the main grid will help for a while (I'd be surprised if that happens this year), fixing some of the more annoying bugs will help too but that takes time. As of right now I'm not at all surprised few stay - ignoring all the recent drama on the forums (which, by they by, has at least helped get InWorldz's name out and about).

I like your idea of Group Outings... that would be a very easy thing to implement.. and might just see those Hermits (like me) get out & about more.
I used to love going to the Forum in SL.. I mean the inworld one, we do not seem to have anything like that, though I have seen areas where a Forum could be started... The New Adult Hub springs to Mind... though it needs ppl to be there at any given time

When I use to visit SL, I was in a bike group. Every Friday night we gathered at the club house to discuss the next weeks business (parties, fund raisers, etc), then the road chief would let us know where we would ride that night. Whether that was a mainland highway, or private sim with roadways, point was, we went out as a group to explore. Part of that exploration was not to just enjoy some great places to ride, but to also enjoy some great builds and learn of tucked out of the way merchants who might have some great products. Chopper had mentioned a sim crawl to me a number of weeks back. I'd be interested in knowing the progress of this venture. I fully agree on the group adventures, as they give you many folks to talk with about what you are seeing as a group.

What current residents need to realize, and this is actually being seen in the microcosm of the Gypsy group, is that activities like those you described Quit Button are not built into InWorldz or any group. It is the community that has to make them happen, and the community seems to be content to lay it all back at the founder feet. The founders are not our entertainment co-ordinations. Yes they have special events now and again, Fright Fest for example, but they can not plan entertainment for us 24 hours a way 7 days a week. Truthfully you want that InWorldz is not the place for you, try a more structured MMO.
As for innovation? Oh I have agreed with that for years. Yes I understand their saving the initial outlay of developing a whole new viewer from the start, but I continue to from more and more concerned with the continued use of viewer code from the outside and continued pushes for TPV compatibility. My opinion is though they saved a lot of effort in the beginning funnelling those resources into the grid foundation, the continued push to support TPVs is a waste of time and resources that should have been used to begin developing a whole new InWorldz viewer that would allow InWorldz to branch off, grow and innovate in more ways then just having enhanced performance. Especially since they stated their target audience when the grid leaves Beta is not even previous VW users.
Ultimately the word Beta should be highlighted, as that is where InWorldz still is, and I suspect will remain into the next year. Perhaps next fall we will see the official "Release" of InWorldz to the world.

Dagnabbit! Group outings!!!! Awesome idea plus we haz a forum hangout at the 'forum cartel' above Amar's Animated Spirits sim. We could go cruisin', cars, bikes, boats and planes! - that all may need physics. We can still have monthly hangouts at the afore mentioned destination where we do nothing but chat and catchup on events in-world and other grids perhaps.

Will boats be able to include a Yacht over 60 meters in length and 35 in width? Or at least some where to park it so we can deploy the 5 seater run about? LOL

As a builder, creator and someone who loves to learn I love IW. This said there must be more. I for 1 love the fun stuff, to shop to explore, to dance, to flirt and yes to have sex. Yes I did say that IW bad word I like pixel bumping. Get over it lol. Until IW is welcoming to this fact we will never be more than builders and creators some times getting together to have some fun. And believe me I sell nothing on IW I give all away and I put in tons of rl $ every month and even week for my fun so I know I speak for the few here who may just need IW to grow.

It takes action to raise concurrency. People come in take a look, nothing going on, they leave.
That's the intent behind the IDI classes. Show the new people the possibilities.
Get current residents involved, which also gives them free air time at THE spot in InWorldz, The Welcome Center.
If everyone picks up a little on their end then it will get rolling. The thing that SL enjoyed that InWorldz cannot, is that when SL was new there was no place else to go back to. They come in, can't find people then go back to SL where they know where to go.
There is a saying, it takes a village to raise a child. In this case it is our grid, if we just sit around waiting things may not happen at all. IDK
